The devastating conflict that erupted after assaults on several areas in Moyale, under Oromiya regional government, is agony that will live with victims as well as the entire community forever. Following the conflict, several officials from Borana zone were arrested for a reason not explained clearly up to now. The group of officials detained includes the Borana zone administrator, Mr. Kanu Jillo who was appointed to the post few months before the conflict. In addition to the officials, there were several others detainee during this turmoil. Surprisingly, immediately after Kanu Jillo was arrested, his post was filled by Mr. Abera Ayele, a former government official in the Borana region.
Constant reorganization and dismissal of government officials is common in most part of the world and this is true in Ethiopia. Reshuffling and dismissing government officials may occur due to political disagreement, scandals, corruption, among other reasons. Although this is a common process, recently there was unusually high rate of government officials reshuffling and dismissal within Borana zone. The incidences are too frequent and involve several positions that it is creating uncertainty and confusion in the community.
Meanwhile, the latest information from the region indicates that three of people arrested during the Moyale conflict are released. Among them are Mr. Abduba wario (moyale security office head), Borana Zone police commander, and Miyo police comander.
Unfortunately, there are fourteen of the initially arrested individuals remain in jail. Actually, the group, which includes Mr. Kanu Jilo, has been transferred to Qalitii maximum security prison from where they were held for months. While they are waiting for a final ruling and explanation for their arrest, their transfer to Qaliti maximum security prison highlights the seriousness of their situation.

The two are Mr. Hussien Galgalo Diqa and Mr. Malicha Lojee. Both were holding significant positions in Oromiya regional government.
Although the exact reason for the government officials reshuffling and dismissal in Borana zone is not clear, the residents of the region are frustrated and fade up with this activity. Most in the region feel the situation is distracting them from focusing on the challenges of their day to day life. While they have minimum power to prevent the situation and do not fully understand the reason behind it, people are looking forward to see ending of this activity.
